Directed & Devised by Caroline Burkheart and Julliette Holliday

IMG_1663_edited.jpg

Silhouettes is a devised show I assistant directed and performed in with my close friend and collaborator, Caroline Burkhart. Along with the ensemble this piece blossomed into a beautiful performance filled with stories told with fabrics, rope, water, movement, and song, narrating the life cycles we have experienced in our own lives as womxn and observed in others.

SOUL MATES

Original Script Written by Kyr Siegel

Music and Lyrics by Julliette Holliday

In a waiting room, two souls (“One” and “Two”) prepare to be born, but before they are they must choose which body type they will assume. Two makes the choice easily but One struggles with the decision, and having made it almost immediately regrets it. Complicating this scenario is the fact that the souls are, well, mates. But they’re worried that they won’t be able to find each other in life and struggle to ensure that they will. The play is a modern myth, a way of explaining in poetic, metaphorical terms the question of gender identity
